time, 21st November 1878. The child presented with the head first, but the cranium played above the inlet of the pelvis and would not enter. I accordingly turned, and the child was born with no great difficulty. The conjugate was ascertained to measure 3f inches. Not having taken accurate notes of the case, I cannot give further details of the labour. Mrs W. became pregnant a second time, and labour pains set in during the afternoon of 11th December 1880. They continued steadily and increased in frequency during the night and next day. I saw her for the first time at 9.45 P.M. next day, 12th December. On abdominal palpation the head of the child was found above the pelvic brim; the limbs were to the mother's left side, and the back to the right. The foetal heart was heard loudest
